Striker Sam Parkin has left St Johnstone by mutual consent.

The 30-year-old has recovered from a stress fracture of the ankle but his playing opportunities this season have been limited to two as a substitute.

"I'm disappointed it has not worked out but the injury was a devastating blow," Parkin told St Johnstone's website.

"The club was good and gave me time to recover but I need regular games and the manager has been honest with me and said that he can't promise that."

Parkin joined Saints at the beginning of last season from English League One outfit Walsall and scored five goals before sustaining the ankle break in February 2011.

"I leave with no animosity and having met a great bunch of guys who I wish every success to in the remainder of the season," he added.
