Russell Anderson agrees Aberdeen return
Former skipper Russell Anderson has rejoined Aberdeen on a deal that will see the 33-year-old stay at Pittodrie until at least the end of next season.
And the defender will resume the captaincy once he recovers from a hamstring injury.
"Simply having him around the club again is a tremendous boost to everyone," manager Craig Brown .
"Our medical team and the player are confident of a full recovery."
Anderson, capped 11 times for Scotland, left the Dons for Sunderland in 2007, netting Aberdeen a 拢1m transfer fee.
He began his career at Pittodrie and was captain of the club for the last four of the 11 seasons he spent at the club.
After loan spells at Plymouth and Burnley, Anderson joined Derby in 2010 but his contract was cancelled by mutual consent in December 2011.
On his bid to recover fitness, Anderson told 91热爆 Scotland: "I'll be out for another few weeks yet, so it will be a while before I'm out on the pitch.
"Hopefully, before the end of the season.
"I know I'm in good hands with the physios here. I trust them completely."
Following the sale of Richard Foster to Bristol, Andrew Considine skippered the Dons for Saturday's 0-0 draw with Kilmarnock.
"Russell is Aberdeen through and through and his influence both on and off the park will be a massive confidence boost for all of us here," added Brown.
