Leeds 2-1 Burnley

A goal seven minutes into injury time from Ross McCormack earned Leeds a dramatic win against 10-man Burnley.

The Clarets went ahead despite Kieran Trippier being sent off for two bookable offences after 29 minutes.

Charlie Austin opened the scoring with a half-volley before an own goal from Jay Rodriguez levelled the scores with two minutes to go.

McCormack then fired home after Lee Grant spilled an Andros Townsend shot to stun the Clarets.

Simon Grayson's Leeds side were without a win in four going into the match and the manager must have been fearing the worst.

Austin twice went close for the visitors in the first half, spurning a one-on-one chance before forcing Andy Lonergan to tip over a 25-yard effort.

Townsend, , went close for the home side before Brian Easton headed an effort off the goal-line and Darren O'Dea hit the crossbar with a looping header.

Leeds struck the woodwork for a second time through Zac Thompson before eventually their pressure paid off.

The win ended a run of three straight defeats for the home side and moved them up to eighth, just a point off the play-off places.

Burnley drop to 10th after losing only their second game in eight.

Leeds boss Simon Grayson: "We can achieve anything, because the division is so tight. A couple of wins gets you up there.

"With five minutes to go, we were staring down the barrel of another defeat. I thought we played well and had enough chances. I'm delighted we stopped the rot.

"It's massive for us. We're at home, we don't want to get adrift of the play-off positions and it's important we win football matches. I made five changes today and we could have made 11."

Burnley boss Eddie Howe: "I'm bitterly disappointed.

"I'm proud of the players and I thought we deserved all three points for the defensive display. It was heartbreaking to concede but we can take great heart.

"At 11 v 11 I thought we were the better team. The ref changed the game with a really poor decision that made it a difficult afternoon for everyone. The second booking isn't even a foul and it was a big decision to make. A disgraceful one."
