Northampton's Adebayo Akinfenwa confident of more goals
Northampton Town striker Adebayo Akinfenwa says he is confident he can maintain his goalscoring form.
The 29-year-old scored his 100th career goal, and his third in three games, in .
Akinfenwa : "I'm feeling good every time I step on the pitch and hopefully I'll continue my run [at Oxford].
"I didn't know it was 100 [goals] but I thank God for allowing me to achieve that landmark."
He added: "[The goal celebration was] just a bit of fun between me and Saido Berahino.
"Everyone keeps saying I'm a boxer and too big to play, so that was a little boxing celebration."
Akinfenwa , and has scored 47 goals in total for the club.
New manager Aidy Boothroyd has been impressed with the former Gillingham, Swansea and Torquay striker, calling him "the one of the best box players I've ever seen with ball into feet".
And he will be looking to Akinfenwa to maintain his current form as The Cobblers look to move away from the lower end of the League Two table.
"The new manager and [assistant] Andy King have set out a game plan and they've been drilling that it into us," the striker said.
"The intensity of training has gone up 10 or 15%, the gaffer is meticulous in his details and I think we're going places - we'll put it right on the pitch."
