Portsmouth sign West Brom duo George Thorne and Joe Mattock on loan
Portsmouth have confirmed they have completed the signing of West Bromwich Albion midfielder George Thorne and left-back Joe Mattock on loan.
Pompey had hoped to tie up a deal for a third loan signing but it fell through.
Thorne, 18, is a product of the club's academy but has made just three appearances for the Baggies.
Mattock, 21, has represented England at Under-17, 19 and 21 level and began his career at Leicester before joining West Brom in August 2009.
Pompey boss Appleton said he was delighted to bring both players in, having worked with them when on the coaching staff at the Hawthorns.
"Joe gives us balance in that left-sided position,"
"He brings a lot of experience of Championship football having played it since he was 17 and also has Premier League experience.
"George likes to put his foot on the ball and play and is a bit younger but has a lot of maturity and hopefully they will both help improve the team."
