Scotland Under-21 midfielder Ryan Jack has signed a contract extension with Aberdeen.

The new deal ties the 19-year-old to the Scottish Premier League club until summer 2014.

Jack told the Dons' website: "I know I have still got a lot to learn and I feel this is the right club for me to keep learning.

"I am looking forward to continuing my development under the guidance of Craig Brown and Archie Knox."

Jack can also play in defence and was used in that position for Billy Stark's Under-21s in last week's 5-2 win against Luxembourg and Monday's 2-2 draw with Austria.

He has been with Aberdeen since the age of eight and made his first-team debut in the Scottish Cup against Raith Rovers last season.

"This is a massive club," he said, expressing his delight at extending his contract.

"I have come right through from the youngest age group in the youth academy to the first team.

"I am enjoying playing regularly and I get on great with all the lads.

"The club is going forward now under Craig and Archie and I am looking forward to see what we can achieve over the next couple of years."
