Birmingham extend loan of West Brom's Chris Wood until January
Birmingham City have agreed a deal to keep West Brom striker Chris Wood on loan until 5 January 2012.
The 19-year-old New Zealand international has enjoyed a prolific spell at St Andrew's, scoring eight times in 11 appearances.
"I'm very pleased the loan has been extended," Wood told the
"I've settled in very well here and all of the lads - who are a great bunch - have really taken to me."
Wood brought the second month of his existing loan deal to an end by coming off the bench to score twice as Blues beat Nottingham Forest 3-1 at the City Ground.
"I'm very pleased to have scored the goals that I have but it's only the start. Together we have to keep putting in the performances and picking up the results to move up the league," added the former Brighton loanee.
The Kiwi initially moved across from The Hawthorns as cover for the injured Marlon King, Nikola Zigic and Cameron Jerome towards the end of August.
He has also benefited from the experience of Blues' Europa League campaign, scoring in the 3-0 win over Portuguese side Nacional in the final qualifying round.
Birmingham have paid an undisclosed loan fee to keep Wood at St Andrew's for the next three months.
"We are delighted the loan has been extended, this has continued our good working relationship with West Brom," noted boss Chris Hughton.
"Hopefully Chris can continue in the same vein as he has done so far."
