Reaction to England's match against the Netherlands being cancelled
Reaction from players, officials and pundits after England's friendly with the Netherlands is in London.
The Dutch football federation (KNVB):
"The KNVB has just been in touch again with the FA. Early on Tuesday morning, the English federation consulted with local authorities about the friendly match due to be played on Wednesday night. The authorities have decided to cancel the scheduled game.
"The rioting in London is such that all available police capacity is reserved for this."
Netherlands defender Gregory van der Wiel:
"Too bad we are not going to london anymore.. The game against England is canceled, because of the riots in London."
FA head of communications Adrian Bevington:
"Disappointing for game to be called off, but very good communication with met, brent and govt today - sensible decision."
FA head of Elite Development Gareth Southgate:
"There we go then - game off tomorrow. Right decision. Enough pressure on police force"
Newcastle United midfielder Joey Barton:
"This is what happens when uneducated people get bored, lack of education leads to violence....protesting about nothing"
Talksport correspondent Sam Matterface:
"People asking about the Dutch. Due to leave at 1200 but they will not come now, understandably. One of the reasons for the early decision."
