Kenny Miller pleased to get Cardiff City off the mark
Cardiff City debutant Kenny Miller was delighted to get his new team's campaign off to a flying start with .
The Welsh side had to soak up plenty of pressure but, with the match heading for stalemate, were rewarded when Miller struck an injury-time winner.
"It's a fantastic result and it was a good performance from the boys," Miller said.
"Our defence was outstanding and we got our reward in the end."
Frederic Piquionne came closest to scoring for the home side when he hit the post, while new signing Matt Taylor was always a threat from set-pieces, testing Bluebirds keeper David Marshall on a number of occasions.
But Malky Mackay's men held firm and were rewarded with all three points.
Scotland international Miller was delighted with the victory, and also the chance to get on the score sheet for his new club.
"As a forward you want to score goals and when you come to a new club it's always important to get off the mark early, and there's no better place to do it than away at Upton Park," he said.
"It's only one of 46 matches but it was important to come here and get a good start, the last thing we wanted to do was get beaten.
"A point would have been a good result for us so to nick it at the end was a dream start."
