Bristol Rovers have signed winger Joe Anyinsah on a free transfer following his release from Charlton.

The 26-year-old, who started his career at rivals Bristol City, scored five goals in 24 appearances for the Addicks last season.

"I had a bit of a think about what I wanted to do over the summer," Anyinsah told 91热爆 Radio Bristol.

"I liked the manager's ambition and the plans he had for the club so I'm really pleased everything is sorted."

Anyinsah admits that joining Rovers was a tough decision to make after growing up as a Bristol City fan.

"To be honest, I did [have to think]. As soon as I heard about it I thought 'Rovers? I'm a City boy!'

"But that's football and there's a few players that have done that now."

After leaving City, Anyinsah went on to have spells at Hereford, Preston, Bury, Crewe, Brighton and Carlisle.

He becomes boss Paul Buckle's 12th signing of the summer.
