Richie Wellens wins Leicester City player of year award
Leicester City midfielder Richie Wellens has been named the club's player of the year.
The 31-year-old has been a key figure this season, starting 43 of the 45 Championship games so far.
Wellens, who missed Tuesday's awards event because of illness, told the club website: "The fans have been great... to get their vote is a great feeling."
Wellens' fellow midfielder Andy King won the players' player of the season and the golden boot for his 15 goals.
Meanwhile striker Yakubu picked up goal of the season for his strike against Derby County in February and defender Kyle Naughton was named young player of the season.
