Division Two leaders Lancashire took control against Glamorgan at Colwyn Bay after a double century for Alviro Petersen and a ton from Ashwell Prince.

The visitors won the toss and chose to bat but lost Paul Horton for one in just the seventh over.

After Karl Brown (54) was out, South African pair Petersen (205no) and Prince (154no) put on an unbroken 321.

It was a tough day for the bowlers with Michael Hogan (1-50) and David Lloyd (1-81) taking the only wickets.

Petersen and Prince's extraordinary stand is just 43 runs shy of Michael Atherton and Neil Fairbrother's record third-wicket partnership record for Lancashire - the 364 they put on against Surrey at The Oval in 1990.

It is the third time in 2015 that Petersen has made a century, while it took Prince just 132 balls to get to his ton - his fifth century in 17 innings.

Ashley Giles' side have now passed 400 on six occasions this season as they look for an immediate return to Division One.

Lancashire batsman Alviro Petersen told 91�ȱ� Radio Lancashire:

"Days like this in cricket don't come very often.

"I'm happy today I went on - the previous two times in the season I didn't quite kick on.

"It was another good partnership for us. He's playing good cricket at the moment so it's nice to support someone."

Glamorgan captain Jacques Rudolph told 91�ȱ� Wales Sport:

"On a pretty lifeless pitch, the way Alviro Petersen and Ashwell Prince played was a proper masterclass.

"As far as commitment and determination go, I thought our bowlers tried their best, but the margin for error on this wicket is so small so we got a little bit exposed.

"We can't just fall over, we have shown when we've had our backs against the wall, we've found ways to fight back and this presents us with another opportunity to do so."
