Glamorgan all-rounder Craig Meschede says the team have staged a "really good recovery" after his career-best innings of 107 helped steer them from 150-6 at tea to 371 all out against Northants.
The visitors looked in control of the first day at the Swalec Stadium.
But Meschede's knock, along with 73 from Chris Cooke, took them to an unlikely fourth batting bonus point.
"We lost a couple of quick wickets and we were under pressure," Meschede said.
"So we really needed that partnership between Cooky and myself and it came off in the end."
Northants will start on 0 for 0 after night-watchman Mohammed Azharullah batted out the final over of the day.
Meschede's innings represented his second first-class century of the season, beating his previous best of 101 not out against Surrey earlier in the season in Cardiff.
He hit 17 fours and a six while Ruaidhri Smith blasted 49 off 33 balls batting at 10 in his first championship game of the season.
"My aim was just to rebuild because they were bowling really well in consistent areas," he said.
"But Cooky batted really well. I just wanted to keep scoring and keep things ticking over, but once I was around the 87 mark I thought I could crack on and get another 100, so it was nice to get a career-best.
"I think it was a really good recovery because of the position we were in."
"Cooky and Col (Ingram, making 45) batted well and then Ruaidhri took us past 350 and helped change the game around."
Both Glamorgan and Northants have one win and four draws from their campaign so far, but a mixed weather forecast for Monday and Tuesday could hit their chances of achieving a positive result.
