Glamorgan: Craig Meschede will cherish memory of maiden century
Glamorgan's Craig Meschede says he will "cherish forever" the memory of hitting a maiden first-class century and dismissing Kevin Pietersen .
Meschede was unbeaten on 101 after helping avoid the follow-on and sharing a record ninth-wicket partnership against Surrey of 119 with Dean Cosker.
"It's a massive achievement for me, something I've been longing for," he said.
Glamorgan were dismissed for 419 - 144 behind Surrey going into the final day.
Meschede saw Cosker fall with Glamorgan two short of the follow-on target of 413, and had to rely on last man Andy Carter to help him guide the Welsh County to safety and reach his own landmark.
During Surrey's first innings he dismissed Kevin Pietersen for 19.
"Dean was amazing and a massive part of avoiding the follow-on," said Mechede, who is on a season-long loan from Somerset.
"When I play in a positive way I'm at my best and I feel confident.
"My heart was racing [when Cosker was out], you try to get the two runs to avoid the follow-on and then think about yourself.
"It's been a good game for me and it's something I'll cherish forever."
