Kane Williamson and Jonny Bairstow's century partnership forged a Yorkshire recovery against Sussex at Scarborough.

With the hosts wobbling on 57-3, New Zealander Williamson (90 no) and Bairstow put on 149 before the latter was dismissed by Matthew Hobden for 77.

After moving their overnight score of 315-8 to 368 all out, Sussex removed Adam Lyth (3) and Alex Lees (0) early.

But Williamson and Bairstow's stand, along with captain Andrew Gale (35), helped Yorkshire to 258-5 at stumps.

Gale's side were frustrated in the morning session as they looked to take the final two wickets, with Steve Magoffin (39) and Lewis Hatchett (20 not out) providing some late resistance in a ninth-wicket partnership of 49.

The same pair then carried on where they left off with the bat with the ball, as Hatchett bowled Lyth with his first delivery and Magoffin had Lees caught by Ed Joyce for a duck in the next over as Yorkshire were reduced to 5-2.

Gale then hit six boundaries in his 47-ball innings before he edged Magoffin behind.

Williamson and Bairstow then proceeded to put their side in control as they took the score to 206-3, before 21-year-old Hobden trapped the England wicket-keeper lbw.

That brought Jack Leaning to the crease, who made 33 before he was bowled by James Tredwell just four balls before the close of play.

91热爆 Radio Leeds' Dave Callaghan:

"This match is evenly poised going into day three. In reply to 368 made by Sussex, Yorkshire started poorly. However, a partnership of 149 between Bairstow and Williamson restored their hopes.

"Bairstow went for a fluent 77 and Williamson, who had been reprieved by the umpires earlier when Sussex claimed he had been caught by Tredwell, is 10 away from his maiden century for Yorkshire.

"The home side closed on 258-5 from 62.1 overs after bad light brought play to an early halt. Tomorrow will see Yorkshire continue their first innings 110 adrift with five wickets left."
