Maurice Chambers took 3-29 and Richard Levi hit 68 as Northants earned a 19-run Duckworth/Lewis win over Lancashire to end the hosts' quarter-final hopes.

Chambers took three wickets in the first six overs of Lancashire's pursuit of 201 in 40 overs and a second bout of rain ended the match soon afterwards.

Lancashire were on 47-3 when the rain returned after Northants had earlier made 200-8 in a rain-reduced 40 overs.

Opener Levi was the only Northants batsman to pass 30 in their 200-8.

The South African only faced 43 balls and hit 13 fours and a six with 46 of his first 50 runs coming in boundaries.

Lancashire spinner Stephen Parry, who played for England in the World Twenty20, took a season's best 3-23 and managed to slow the visitors run-rate along with fellow spinner Steven Croft.

Graeme Whyte hit 21 from 31 balls to take Northants to 200, which gave Chambers something to bowl at.

And he responded with career-best figures which proved crucial as when the heavens opened for the final time, Lancashire were well behind the required rate.

It was only Northants' second win from seven One-Day Cup matches, but means victory over Essex on Thursday with other results going their way could see them reach the quarter-finals.

Bottom-placed Lancashire have now lost five from seven, including all three of their home ties.
