Nottinghamshire v Sussex: Chris Nash shines in rain at Notts progress at Trent Bridge
Sussex made a steady start on a rain-affected first day against Nottinghamshire, reaching 91-1 by close of play at Trent Bridge.
Chris Nash (45no) showed commendable concentration despite the interruptions before rain meant play was abandoned at 18:15 BST after only 25 overs.
After a three-hour delay Nash and Luke Wells (39) put on 69.
But the impressive opening stand ended when Wells was caught behind by Chris Read off the bowling of Ajmal Shahzad.
Earlier Shahzad thought he had Nash caught at third slip by Steven Mullaney, but umpires Neil Bainton and Peter Hartley were not convinced the low catch was taken.
And although Wells was dismissed soon after, Nash and Michael Yardy remained unbeaten at close of play.
