Kent: Brendan Nash among 12 players handed new contracts

Veteran batsman Brendan Nash is among a dozen players to have agreed new contracts at Kent.

Long-serving trio Geraint Jones, James Tredwell and Darren Stevens have renewed their deals with the club.

The Division Two side have extended the stays of Sam Billings, Mark Davies, Ben Harmison and Sam Northeast.

Ashley Shaw and academy graduates Fabian Cowdrey, Ben Kemp and Ivan Thomas will also remain at the St Lawrence Ground for the 2013 campaign.

A further eight players - Adam Ball, Daniel Bell-Drummond, Alex Blake, Matt Coles, Rob Key, Mike Powell, Adam Riley and Charlie Shreck - were already under contract for next season.

Graham Johnson, Kent's chairman of cricket, said: "I am extremely pleased to announce that the core of the 2012 squad have committed their futures to Kent.

"This year the players have performed well and we will seek to build upon this during 2013.

"I am particularly pleased that we have a great number of talented young cricketers coming through the system, and this season they have demonstrated their great potential."
