Yorkshire captain Andrew Gale cannot wait to lead his side out against the best Twenty20 teams in the world.

The Tykes suffered a 10-run defeat against Hampshire in the final of the FL t20 but have secured a place in the Champions League T20 qualifiers.

"I like to think we can compete with the best teams in the world," he said.

"We only lost the match in the last two or three balls of the final and that shows we have come a very long way in a short space of time."

Gale is now looking forward to having the chance of playing the world's best T20 teams if they are successful in South Africa in October.

"Jason Gillespie [Yorkshire's first-team coach] has allowed us to play with more freedom. Our younger lads have also come of age and come into their own this season.

"To take the T20 final into the last over was a fantastic effort.

"It would have been nice to spray that champagne around but what we have achieved as a club can make us all proud.

"We now have a trip to South Africa and will be playing the best Twenty20 teams in the world."

Yorkshire will be aiming to secure a return to Division One of the County Championship and they currently sit third in Division Two with three matches remaining.
