Hampshire's Jimmy Adams hits century to beat Northants
Hampshire moved to within nine points of Division Two league leaders Derbyshire after beating Northants by eight wickets at Southampton.
Northants, 176-5 overnight, declared on 245-8 after Alex Wakely fell four runs short of a ton and Rob Newton made 59.
Hampshire, set 326 to win, scored at nearly five runs an over to reach 329-2 with Adams scoring 149, Neil McKenzie making 76 and Simon Katich 61 not out.
The victory leaves Hampshire in second, 10 points ahead of Yorkshire in third.
