Gloucestershire v Hampshire: Marshall holds up visitors

Hamish Marshall scored 75 to lead a Gloucestershire recovery following a good start for Hampshire on day one.

Despite Dan Housego's 51, the visitors reduced Gloucestershire to 85-4 with wickets for Kabir Ali (2-64), David Balcombe and Dimitri Mascarenhas.

Marshall and Ian Cockbain (51) then put on 125 for the fifth wicket to take the hosts to their first batting point.

Balcombe (2-55) took Cockbain's wicket as Hampshire hit back late in the day, with the home side closing on 265-8.

Hampshire lost Mascarenhas to a shoulder injury after he had taken 1-24 from 12 overs.
