European 400m champion Martyn Rooney will captain the Great Britain team at the World Championships in Beijing later this month.

Rooney, 28, is to compete in the 400m relay and the individual event after winning his place on appeal.

British Athletics performance director Neil Black said: "I was looking for someone who can help bridge the generations and unite the individual athletes as a team."

Great Britain has a 63-strong team.
