Gremlin was first up in 1958 by former RAF members but didn't enter carnival until the following year because of low membership.

Andrew McClean, member of the Gremlins said:

"Since then it's gone from strength to strength. In 1978 the club actually won its first county cup with Galactic Guardians - that moved the club onto new success."

The reunion party will be held at the club's headquarters, the Bridgwater Sports and Social Club on 28 February.

For the past five years the club has won the Ker Cup, a prestigious award for carnival clubs in Bridgwater.

In 2006 the Gremlins picked up 62 honours for its Ghost Ship entry.

"It took us by complete surprise. We knew we were onto something when we did it, it's very clever, the engineering side. A chap called Paul Marsh, extremely talented, decided the year before what he wanted to do.

"Dave Clap is a brilliant cart builder of ours, there were major ideas throughout, he kept it simple but very effective."

He also said they received a great public response from all over the region, after word got out their cart was spectacular and well worth seeing.

The party will be open to anyone who had connections to the Gremlins.

"Right throughout the year, with the fundraising if we didn't have the people who went out there and worked and worked, we wouldn't bring out what we do. The ladies, the the wives (behind the scenes), the family members work so hard.

"They don't ask for anything, they're not on the cart or asking for anything, but they're just so important to our operation.

"We're hoping to get the maximum people in there - I'm just so excited."
