Who is Ange Hardy?Ange Hardy... Songwriter, Vocals, Guitar / Flute, Production and Engineering. Where in Somerset are you from?Yeovil When did you form?2007 How did you get together?I started writing and playing professionally after my friend made me sing at an open mic night in Taunton late 2007...It all went from there! How would you describe your music?Acoustic/alternative/folk Who are your musical influences?Any artist who makes me listen! What is your most memorable gig so far?One of my first gigs was a free charity gig. I got up on a fully lit stage (for the first time ever) with a band I'd only met an hour or so before and played two of my own songs (after no practice). I was on stage following bands that I loved and followed as a fan! (I got my first standing ovation). Where would you most like to play?Anywhere, I just love to play. Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourselfWhen I first picked up a guitar, sat on the streets in Ireland in 1997 and fumbled around finding a note on each string that would harmonise with its neighbour, I had no idea I was creating a chord (let alone a chord that already existed!). It turns out that the chords A, E and D saw me through one of the most lonely, difficult and eventful years of my life. From then on a trend was set, I'd found an outlet that would later become my councilor, my career, my mentor and my best friend. My life has been bursting with reasons to write, experiences are gifts to me, feelings and emotions are inspiration and without it I would surely have gone mad several times over! I've loved music ever since I can remember. I was born in 1983 and grew up with my two brothers in a little village near Taunton. My father left us when I was five and my mum bought us up alone, always seeing potential in us and never letting us pass up any opportunity; we were always learning an instrument of some kind - drums, piano, flute, violin. Coping with various milestones in my life has been a challenge, after my brother died in 1995 of meningitis and I moved through a few foster homes, I found myself desperate to find a way of communicating my feelings. Writing and sharing my music gave me all that and more. My music is me.
