Dean aims to release a mini Christmas EP

Postman specially delivers own Christmas song

It's not uncommon for postmen to whistle while do their rounds but a postman from Weston-super-Mare has taken it a step further by recording his own Christmas song.

My snowman wants my coat and scarf lyrics

Well you'll never believe it but me and the wife

Made a snowman and he came to life.

We'd gone to bed like we've done before

And at ten to four he knocked on the door.

'You've made me with no clothes on you see

And I want you to spare my dignity.'

You're avin a laugh, avin a laugh,

My snowman wants my coat and scarf.

Dean Farnell was so annoyed when he saw a Christmas tree in a pub in September that he recorded a song called 'Why don't Christmas go away?'

The song is about a man who hated Christmas because he was so poor that he couldn't afford to buy any Christmas presents but then he got a well paid job and wanted it to be Christmas everyday.

Dean said he was not a humbug- even though he has been on holiday several times over Christmas.

He has also written three other Christmas-themed听 songs; 'We call her Christmas Carol', 'My snowman wants my coat and scarf' and 'Reindeer poo on my shoe'.听

In the song, the snowman wants dignity

"I wanted the song to be quite humorous because Christmas is so serious, I just wanted to do something fun- it's very tongue in cheek. I just wanted a change from the Christmas songs they play every year," he said.

Dean has only been learning the guitar for six months when he wrote the song. He composed the music first and the lyrics fitted in nicely over the top. He then recorded a demo in a professional studio.

"I just wanted to record it onto a CD because I wanted to hear what my voice sounds like."

He said he was very nervous as it was the first time he had ever sung in front of anyone before.

"He [the sound engineer] must have thought I was a right idiot but I got through it."

Lyrics

Dean wrote the lyrics after the chords

The song, which has had quite an impact at the sorting office, was only heard when a colleague asked him what he did at the weekend.

"I can't believe the reaction it got. People have said it's really catchy and that their children keep singing it.

Superstar Dean is now looking to take over the pop charts. He would like to get it released and is looking for a record company or sponsorship.

Dean said he did not want to make money out of it and that at the moment he has been posting CDs he's made through letter boxes of people who can't get the song out of their heads.听听
