Who are Penelope's Agents? Archie Sylvester on guitar and vocals; Jack McGregor on drums; and Zac Allen on bass. Where in Somerset are you from? Taunton and Wellington When did you form? Autumn 2005 How did you get together? After the demise of Jack and Archie's former band (Marblefields), they continued playing together, eventually enlisting the bass skills of Zac. Since then, their repertoire has grown significantly and they plan an assortment of different music styles. How would you describe your music? Blues/rock-based, but with some funk and experimental parts thrown in. How did the band gets its name? Jack wanted to call it Penelope, but Zac wanted to call it the Chelating Agents (after something he saw in a geography lesson). So Archie, as the peacekeeper, suggested a compromise - hence Penelope's Agents. Who are your musical influences? Each member is influenced differently. Archie listens to Jimi Hendrix, Joe Bonamassa and the Allman Brothers; Zac listens to Jaco Pastorious, Salmonella Dub and Babyshambles; and Jack listens to Tool, Muse and Led Zeppelin. What is your most memorable gig so far? Probably Christmas Eve 2006 at The Firestone in Taunton. It was a great night - lots of people, nice beer and a great atmosphere! Where would you most like to play? Any major festival, also Wembley or Hyde Park. Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself - Archie's been playing guitar since he was six years old, and can play it behind his head/through his legs/with his teeth.
