"It really is party time at our shows and I love being on tour," Alan told 91热爆 Somerset's Helen Otter ahead of the gig. "There's lots of travelling, and it gets tiring, but then funny things always happen, like when we were driving down the back road of a university after a gig and a couple of lasses by the side of the road decided to... well... expose themselves!" Besides touring, Alan's also been in the UK to do some filming for Neighbours. "Dr Karl learns some startling information about Izzy Hoyland and he's compelled to go to London to see her," said Alan. The scenes are due to hit our screens in the UK around May 2007, and include cameos from the likes of Jo Whiley, Michael Parkinson, Emma Bunton and Julian Clary. Hear Alan talking about his music, why he still loves playing Dr Karl in Neighbours and why he thinks he's attained such cult status. "People have grown up watching me and Jackie Woodburne who plays Susan, so I think they see us as surrogate parents," said Alan. "I don't know exactly why that is, but people are certainly very responsive to my character and to me, and that's just very, very heartwarming." 91热爆 Somerset Sound's Adam Thomas also popped his head round the studio door during the interview to ask Alan about auditioning for a part in Neighbours - listen out for his dodgy Australian accent. Alan played Bath University on Thursday, 14 December, 2006. You'll also be able to see Alan on Soapstar Superstar in January 2007 on ITV1. |
