Pocket Shotgun

Pocket Shotgun from Yeovil mix a blend of ideas and musical influences together to create an uplifting and exciting combination of indie, rock, punk and pop music. Find out more about the band.

Who are Pocket Shotgun?

Aaron Clements on vocals and guitar; James Tazzyman on vocals and guitar; Eddie James on vocals and bass; and Tim Davies on vocals and drums.

Where in Somerset are you from?

Yeovil

When did you form?

July 2004

How did you get together?

Aaron, James and Eddie have known each other since school. James and Aaron decided in the last year of school to form a band - Eddie joined a few months after the school term had finished.

Pocket Shotgun

After many band names and an alternating lineup (which saw Aaron leave for a brief period), Pocket Shotgun officially formed when Aaron rejoined the band.

Tim joined the band in January 2004 - he was introduced to the band by a mutual friend.

How would you describe your music?

The music is an infectious blend of catchy, spiky, punchy music, which still offers something different and original to the music fan.

We mix a blend of ideas and musical influences together to create an uplifting and exciting combination of indie, rock, punk and pop music.

How did the band gets its name?

Pocket Shotgun

We tried out many band names, but we kept finding out that other bands shared the same name as us.ÌýWe ended up putting some words in a hat, and pulled out two names.

Who are your musical influences?

Graham Coxon, Bloc Party, Franz Ferdinand, Chili Peppers, The Beatles, Oasis, Sex Pistols, Bluetones, Elbow.

What is your most memorable gig so far?

Woods Wine Bar in Yeovil. It was our first gig there - the pub was packed out, and the place was rockin'!

Also, the Fleece and Firkin in Bristol when we first headlined the venue.

Where would you most like to play?

Glastonbury Festival and Wembley Arena

Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself

In the summer of 2005, things were going well for us. We had a lot of quite high-profile gigs lined up. We were also in the process of signing to a Californian promotion company, but it fell through.

Pocket Shotgun

About the same time, one of our band members became ill. Eventually, a good band member and friend had to leave us due to illness.

After these knock-backs, we regrouped and decided to carry on as a four-piece.ÌýThis involved changing our sound and musical direction.

We now have a great vibe going within the band, and are preparing to gig across the country again - we'll be playing venues from Bristol, all the way to Leicester.
