Invisible Opera

Meet Invisible Opera from Glastonbury - they'll take you on a journey to places both poignant and tender, as well as raging and cathartic!

Who are Invisible Opera?

Tim Hall on bass/vocals; Will Greenwood on guitar/vocals; Sheba on sax; and Arj on drums.

Where in Somerset are you from?

Glastonbury

When did you form?

... long ago, and far, far away!

How did you get together?

Kismet!

How would you describe your music?

It's quite hard to predict from one gig to the next exactly what flavour of music will result, as we move with the mood of the audience and our surroundings.

At times it's chaotic, others sublime. It is a multi-faceted experience - a journey to places both poignant and tender, raging and cathartic.

Between tides, we like to explore the BeWilderLands of improvisation... galactic byelaws notwithstanding!

Those familiar with an Invisible Operatic performance understand that it is possible to play a critical role in influencing the group's intent, in a much more tangible sense than just being a member of the audience.

How did the band gets its name?

The band itself spans several continents and has more than 50 members and ex-members around the world.

There is madness in our method - follow the links around our website (the link's on the right of this page) to gain a deeper insight into the realms Invisible.

Who are your musical influences?

Some music is designed like a magic-ear puzzle - it's not until you shift your perspective that you begin to truly perceive the three dimensionality of the sound.

Frank Zappa meets Roy Wood... at the Stonehenge Festival.

What is your most memorable gig so far?

... err... well... one of the good ones, anyway!

Where would you most like to play?

At a festival, as the sun goes down.

Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself

We've been exploring our surrogate down-home psychedelic-boogie roots, with the help of Arj on kit and Sheba, with her virtuoso talents on the tenor sax.

Our current set features the writing of fretwangler supreme and former Space Pirate Will Greenwood, and Tim "all your bass are bard by us" Hall, along with a couple of well-chosen versions as homage to our ineffable collection of influences.
