Where in Somerset are you from? Taunton When did you form? Late 2005 How did you get together?
We met whilst we were at college. Although we played in different bands together, we'd never all played at the same time, until a fateful moment when we fused into The Jellyfish Incident and finally discovered our fun, party rock sound. How would you describe your music? Indie-dance, with a zest of old skool rock 'n' roll which is punked up - this creates our unique approach to music. We're similar to Futureheads, yet still how the Sex Pistols wish they sounded. How did the band gets its name? In a very weird, weird way! We were drunk and watching TV one night, when we saw a crazy advert which included a giant 20-ft jellyfish. There was some incredible electro music behind the end of the advert, and, as it happens, our drummer knows the band who made that music. Our band name spawned from there as a working title, and after a couple of gigs, it stuck! Who are your musical influences? So many! We are influenced from a huge range of music (although we don't sound like most of the below list), including indie, rock, punk, metal, and dance. The list is endless, but here's a quick start: - The Infadels
- Futureheads
- The Strokes
- The Killers
- Hard Fi
- Prodigy
- Faithless
- Basement Jaxx
- Iron Maiden
- Led Zeppelin
- The Offspring
- Nirvana

And so many more... What is your most memorable gig so far? Probably our college Rockfest, where we had over 300 people bouncing up and down to our music. But we have played at Club Aura in Taunton, where we received a similar level of support and were welcomed with open arms. Where would you most like to play?
Glastonbury Festival would be amazing, as it so close - we will apply next year. But any festival and friends' parties would be great. In fact, we like to play gigs anywhere, as it means we have fun and can spread happiness for the time we play. Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself We aren't weirdly obsessed with jellyfish, nor have any of us been stung. This isn't particularly interesting, but we just thought we should clear that up! More interestingly, our music doesn't always reflect the style of gigs we go to. We are all a bit partial to metal, and we travel in the Jellymobile, aka The Sex Bus, or, as others occasionally call it, Liam's car! Thanks to anyone who reads this and hope to catch you at a show soon! PS - are you a jellyfish? |
