In the Eyes of Midas
In the Eyes of Midas

In the Eyes of Midas

They're influenced by metal, and combine hard-hitting screaming, with soft melodic singing vocals. Meet In the Eyes of Midas from Yeovil.

Who are In the Eyes of Midas?

In the Eyes of Midas

Paul Graham on vocals, Adam Warner on guitar, Chris Owen on guitar, Dan Gifford on bass guitar, and Michael Farrand on drums.

Where in Somerset are you from?

Yeovil

When did you form?

Late 2005

How did you get together?

Adam, Chris, Dan and Mike were all friends from school, and had all participated in previous band projects that never really went anywhere.

In the Eyes of Midas (Steve Lamond)

They then formed a band in early 2005 called Her Perfect Plan. They later acquired Paul and re-named the band In The Eyes of Midas.

How would you describe your music?

Greatly influenced by metal.

You'll find melodic guitar riffs, upbeat drum rhythms and tempos, and easy-to-listen-to bass lines in our music, as well as hard-hitting screaming, and soft melodic singing vocals.

How did the band gets its name?

It took about two or three weeks for us to come up with the name.

In the Eyes of Midas (Steve Lamond)

We didn't want the whole three-worded band-name thing, but at the same time we wanted something original and something people would remember.

We came up with a few names like Lionheart, and Spartican, and then Paul suggested In The Eyes of Midas, and it just clicked.

Who are your musical influences?

36 Crazyfists, Alexisonfire, Atreyu, Avenged Sevenfold, Bullet for my Valentine, Days in December, Dead Poetic, Eighteen Visions, Finch, Funeral for a Friend, Hell
Is for Heroes, Hopefall, Killswitch Engage, Lost Prophets, Matchbook Romance, Senses Fail, Sikth, Story of the Year, Taking Back Sunday, The Bled, The Used, Thrice, Thursday, Trivium, and Underoath.

What is your most memorable gig so far?

In the Eyes of Midas

We played a really good gig at the Yeovil Ski Lodge.

We supported Enter Shikari, but it was a really good gig for us, not one slip-up - it was amazing!

Where would you most like to play?

Probably at the Download Festival at Donnington, or any big festival!

At the moment, we really just wanna be heard.

In the Eyes of Midas (Steve Lamond)

Any gig is where we would most like to play, as long as we don't mess up, and we get a good response.

Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself

Our lead singer, Paul, used to be in a band calledÌýMake Her Cry, who have played with bands like Funeral for a Friend and Firstborn.

We are currently recording an eight-track EP, and the drummer recorded all eight tracks in a couple of hours with minimal mistakes!
