Who are My Story? Asa Chilcott on acoustic guitar and vocals; Dan Russell on lead guitar; Tom Granville on bass guitar; Geraint Coll on rhythm guitar; and Kyle Cullen on drums. Where in Somerset are you from? Street When did you form?
Early 2005 How did you get together? Dan and Tom formed the band Japan 4 at Strode College, which went through several line-up changes, including ex-members of Shindig and Paranoia. The band went through a quiet period, whilst looking for a new singer in late 2004. With the addition of Asa in January 2005, My Story was created! How would you describe your music? Mellow euphoric vibes, fused with upbeat rock anthems, in one easy-to-digest package. How did the band gets its name? Originally, it was going to be called Owen's Story. But to save the hassle of the inevitable "Who's Owen?" at every gig, the more anonymous My Story was chosen. Who are your musical influences? We all take our influences from various artists. Dan's guitar riffs are very reminiscent of Alter Bridge and Goo Goo Dolls, whereas Tom's bass lines show a big RHCP and Muse influence. Overall though, the Goo Goo Dolls are a large inspiration for the music. What is your most memorable gig so far?
The Assembly Rooms in November 2005. We were asked to play at the very last minute, but we still played a fantastic set. The reaction from the audience was superb, and it was extremely flattering to be asked for more afterwards. Where would you most like to play? The main stage at Download Festival on a Sunday night would be lovely. But, we'll settle for the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury on a Friday! Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself: - Kyle will gladly play the set without clothing for a nominal fee
- Kyle's sister Mallory appears on the demo CD on Forget-me-nots, and also occasionally appears live.
- The band were recently offered a season playing in Bermuda as a house band, and have received interest from Micheal Eavis and Jamiroquai's previous record producer.
