Who are April Dead? Josh Gallagher on vocals, Tom Ayliffe on guitar, Guy Harrison on guitar, Josh Elliot on bass and vocals, and James Gallagher on drums Where in Somerset are you from? Castle Cary When did you form?
Summer 2003 How did you get together? Current members Josh G, Tom and Guy got very bored in the summer of 2003 and decided to get a band together. So we bought some amps and guitars and asked two other friends to join as bass player and drummer. After a temporary breakup later that summer, April Dead re-formed with the new additions of James Gallagher on drums and Josh Elliot on bass. Our first show at Glastonbury Assembly rooms soon followed and we have been gigging in Somerset and the South West ever since. How would you describe your music? Our music is an explosive mix of heavy, distorted rhythms and catchy melodic riffs, coupled with technical drums, and vocals ranging from heavy screaming to heartfelt melodies. How did the band gets its name? We had a lot of trouble choosing our name as we could never properly decide, so we chose our name out of a hat! We all put in a few words we liked and then promised that the two we picked out would be our name. And April Dead was picked! Who are your musical influences?
Our musical influences include bands such as Killswitch Engage, As I Lay Dying, Funeral for a Friend, Bullet for my Valentine, Misery Signals, Underoath, Story of the Year, and even artists such as Jeff Buckley, Jack Johnson, Josh Ritter, Damien Rice, and many more. What is your most memorable gig so far? I would have to say our most memorable show was our last show. We played at Flicks Bar in Yeovil with The Fight, 3DBS Down, Instill, In the Eyes of Midas and My Vendetta. The crowd were amazing and the metal railings at the front were good fun to jump off! Where would you most like to play? We would love to play EVERYWHERE! But if we're talking dream gigs, then it would have to be the London Astoria. It truly is an amazing venue! Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself We all practically started our instruments when we started the band. We currently have two CDs - a new four-track is due out in late January 2006. We have supported bands such as The Hurt Process, Cry for Silence (just off tour with Fightstar), Dopamine, Orca, My Awesome Compilation, Million Dead, MenDeed, Jairus, Midasuno, First Born, Aconite Thrill, and many more! |
