Who are Arkwright? Tom Chapman and Robert Theed share the role of lead and rhythm guitar. Donald Hughes rocks out on bass, Alex Thorne (aka Cod) is on vocals, and Tom Young is on drums. Where are you from? Taunton When did you form? In 2004 How did you get together? We formed through the popular music A Level course at Richard Huish College.ÌýFate had us all put in the same band and we all just hit it off from there! How would you describe your music? It's hard to describe our sound, but I guess you could say it's kinda like melodic rock with a ton of chord changes, Brandon Boyd (from Incubus) style singing, and some awesome solos from Bob. How did the band gets its name? Blame Donald! We were struggling with this one for a while. We had some pretty bad suggestions, 99% of which were truly gruesome and highly illegal (also Donald!), before we came up with Arkwright. Who are your musical influences? Each of us has our own particular influences, but as Tom writes most of our stuff, I guess his counts the most. He likes Led Zeppelin (as do the rest of the band!),Ìýand Incubus are a huge influence. Also, Radiohead and lots of punk - Tom's the worlds biggest Blink 182 and NOFX fan! Other influences vary greatly which contributes to the diversity of the band. These include Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, Rufio, Children of Bodom, and Pantera. What is your most memorable gig so far? The most memorable has to be Rockfest 2005, a truly awesome gig and a fantastic show. A personal favourite of mine, though, is an unplugged show we did a while back - not ideal, but purely because it was our first show together and it was grand! Where would you most like to play? Glasto would definitely be an amazing place to play, because of its heritage, proximity, and sheer size! But also the Download Festival would be great, or Wembley back in the day! Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself Hahaha! Ummm, we have lots of interesting facts, most of which are far too explicit to ever mention.ÌýThese babies are coming to the grave with me! |
