Who are Joe Public? Joe Tennant on vocals and guitar; Joe Labanowski on bass, keyboard and backing vocals; Dave Callaby on guitar; and Jordi Urch on drums. Where in Somerset are you from? We're all from different towns and villages in Somerset, but we all go to school in Castle Cary. When did you form?
| Half of Joe Public's members are called Joe! |
In 2002. How did you get together? We formed as a year eight school band at Ansford School in Castle Cary. How would you describe your music? It's hard to categorise, but it's a blend of retro rock and progressive rock. It's kind of like The Libertines mixed with Radiohead and Jimi Hendrix! How did the band gets its name? Half the members are called Joe! Who are your musical influences? Radiohead, Green Day, The Libertines, Jimi Hendrix, and each other. What is your most memorable gig so far?

There have been many, but playing at Pilton Working Men's Club, and realising that Michael Eavis had come down to see us was probably the highlight so far. Where would you most like to play? Everywhere!ÌýGlastonbury Festival, Moles in Bath, all over Bristol, and The World!!!!!!! Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself. Ooh, that's hard... we are a fun band, but very serious about our music.ÌýWe were the youngest ever band to grace the stage at Pilton WMC, we played at Montacute House Festival when we were thirteen, and would love to be travelling the world playing our music. Dave is very, very tall (and of Italian blood), Jordi is always on report at school, Joe T has very long hair and is the best guitarist in the world, ever, and Joe Lab is the coolest bass and keyboard player, who often wears a balaclava! You can find out more about Joe Public, and get info on where they're playing, by going to the band's website - the link's at the top of this page. |
