Locke's notions of man's natural rights had an enormous influence on the development of political philosophy. His ideas formed the basis for the concepts used in American law and government, and allowed the colonists to justify revolution. Dominic MastersFrontman of new rock band The Others, Dominic Masters lived in Dulcote near Wells until he was four years old, before moving to Haybridge until he was 18. The band are renowned for their unannounced one-off guerrilla gigs, and for their libertarian, socially inclusive focus. He has documented the major conflicts of the second half of the last century including Cyprus, the Congo, Biafra, Vietnam, Cambodia and Iraq. Since 1991 he has concentrated on still life and is also known for his landscape photography of Somerset. Paul NichollsDitcheat-based horse trainer, Paul Nicholls is at the forefront of a younger breed of trainers challenging at the top of the National Hunt code. Nicholls' most successful horse to date has been See More Business, who claimed the Cheltenham Gold Cup in 1999 and won the King George VI Chase twice. James PurefoyActor James Purefoy was born in Taunton, and even worked as a porter at Yeovil District Hospital for a while. Film-wise, James Purefoy starred as the Black Prince in A Knight's Tale, opposite Heath Ledger, and co-starred with Milla Jovovich in the futuristic horror film Resident Evil.听He also played Rawdon Crawley in Vanity Fair (some of which was filmed in Bath) with Reese Witherspoon and Jim Broadbent.
