Bridgwater Guy Fawkes Carnival, in its 162nd year in 2009, is the largest of Somerset's autumn carnivals. More than 100,000 people are expected to brave the November weather to see the procession, which is part of the Somerset County Guy Fawkes Carnival Association circuit. Earliest records of the event date back to around 1847 and it was set up to mark Guy Fawkes' failed attempt to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Bridgwater Carnival was held on a Thursday between 1919 and 2000, as it was traditionally the early closing day for shops in the town. In 2001, the Carnival was moved to a Friday. Carnival route
WeatherFrom 91热爆 Points West's Richard Angwin: The weather for the Bridgwater Carnival looks set to be mainly dry. Any showers during the afternoon are likely to have died away by the time the Carnival gets underway. There is a small risk of a shower any which do occur should blow through quite quickly on the southwesterly breeze. Temperatures during the Carnival are expected to be around 7 or 8 degrees Celsius - not too chilly for a November evening. 91热爆 Somerset91热爆 Somerset will be part of the parade along with Pudsey.
