The
aim of the awards was to recognise the work of celebrities
and other new talents in the field of music, television, films,
sports and fashion.
The
winners were decided by MTV's 23 million viewers whilst the
technical and honours categories were judged by a panellists.
Judges
included Karan Johar, Feroze Gujral, Malaika Arora, Nafisa
Ali, Navjot Singh Siddhu, Pooja Bhatt, Prasad Bidappa, Priya
Paul, Wendell Rodericks and chaired by Shobhaa De.
Live
entertainment for the evening was provided by the Danish band,
C21 whilst Bollywood music directors, Shankar-Eshaan- Loy
drove crowds into a frenzy with Maahi Ve from the film
Kal Ho Na Ho.
The
award ceremony was hosted by MTV's Cyrus Broacha and VJ Malaika
Arora.
Bollywood
veteran, Mr Amitabh Bachchan was the star of the evening.
He won the Maha Style Icon of the Year award.
The
Most Stylish Award went to Bipasha Basu (Most Stylish
Person in Films), Vijay Mallya (Honours Business), Fardeen
Khan (Most Stylish Person in Films), Mandira Bedi (Most Stylish
Person on Television), Leander Paes (Most Stylish Person in
Sports), Sonu Nigam (Most Stylish Person in Music) and Sabyasaachi
Mukherjee (Designer of the Year).
The
concept of these Awards is gaining popularity all over the
world.
In
China, this event has proved to be the most sought after social
events viewed by approximately half a billion people.
In the UK the British Fashion Awards were transformed into British
Style Awards featuring high profile acts and personalities like
Elton John, Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias and Kim Cattrall. |
