Meghna Gulzar is the daughter of legendary actress Rakhee. and father/ director Gulzar whose films have received rave reviews in the past.

Filhaal deals with four principle characters. There is Rewa and Sia who have been very close friends since childhood but their ideals differ in many respects.

Rewa has always wanted to settle down and have a family. Hence when sensitive and loving friend Dhruv proposes, she happily accepts. Sia on the other hand is an extremely warm and spontaneous creature who wants to live life to the full. She makes this her main priority thus ending up refusing many a proposals from friend Saahil, a man who is extremely sensitive but at the same time not afraid to declare his love for Sia.

Soon life for these four friends takes a drastic turn when Rewa learns that she is expecting. Unfortunately their happiness is short lived when Rewa suddenly has a miscarriage and finds that she can never have children.

Not wanting to see her bossom friend slowly drift into depression, Sia decides to take the most important decision of her life - to offer her womb to the unlucky couple.

Director Meghna Gulzar has dealt with the subject of in-vitro fertilisation with great sensitivity and intimacy. The treatment she gave in Filhaal is completely different from last years film, Chori Chori Chupke Chupke which dealt with borrowing a woman, while Filhaal deals with borrowing a womb!

Visuals of this film look extremely fresh with the choice of colours director Meghna has used. The visualisation and the music, especially the two songs; "Yeh Lamha" and "Le Chalo Doliya Mein" are simply a treat to our eyes!

Performance wise, Tabu has done her job with great sincerity as usual but its Sushmita Sen who impresses us with her heart warming performance - which could be her best to date. Both Sanjay and Palash act as good support to both the actresses.

All in all director Meghna Gulzar has managed to convey her dream with extreme ease
