Breast Cancer Awareness Month, October 2007 |
|
Woman's Hour devotes October to the most common cancer in the UK.
Nearly 44,000 women and just over 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer each year.
The chances of surviving the disease have improved enormously in recent years - thanks to better detection and treatments, but still more than 12,500 people die each year from the disease.Ìý
During October, Woman's HourÌýlooks at all aspects of the disease, from the symptoms and the diagnosis to theÌýtreatment and emotional impact of living with it.
On this site, you'll be able to ... - Listen Again to the breast cancer programmes broadcast throughout the five-week season in October.
- Participate on our dedicated breast cancer message board for all who have had experience of the disease. Share your feelings, offer support and discuss your experiences. Every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 11.00am-12.00am, Breast Cancer Care nurses will be answering your questions on the message board and offering sources of information and support.
