Should Muslim women be allowed to become spiritual leaders?

The imam, a religious preacher and educator,Ìýis the most powerful figure in the Muslim community. Until now, they haveÌýalways beenÌýa man.

The Islamic Association of China has granted licences to female Imams, saying they were answering the wish of the people. So what are the implications for Muslim women in Britain, and will it start a debateÌýto allow them toÌýbecome spiritual leaders?
