Ìý Dressers Monday 11 August 2003 Ìý
The 50th anniversary of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II is celebrated this year with a special exhibition at Buckingham Palace.

Part of the annual summer opening of the State Rooms at the palace, the exhibition recreates the atmosphere and the excitement of Coronation Day, the 2nd of June, 1953.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is the famed coronation dress, which was designed by the royal courturier Norman Hartnell. The dress went through 8 different designs to reach the final one, and it has lain undisturbed in its own bespoke wooden box in Buckingham Palace.
Eliane Glaser toured the exhibition with curator Christopher Lloyd, and conservationist Janet Wood, who worked on the dress and restored it for the exhibition.
