Ìý The Gattys Monday 26 May 2003 Ìý
They were brought up in a Yorkshire vicarage. They wrote books which were best-sellers in Victorian times. They invented their own little kingdom, which they wrote about in a domestic magazine. They were plagued by ill-health and died relatively young.

But, they weren't the Brontës - they were the Gattys of Ecclesfield, near Sheffield. And two of them, Margaret and her daughter Juliana Ewing, were world-famous in their day.
Now, a book has been published to celebrate their lives - and Clare Jenkins has been talking to its authors, Mel and Joan Jones, at St Mary's Church in Ecclesfield, where the family lived.
Book details: 'The Remarkable Gatty Family of Ecclesfield' by Mel and Joan Jones
