Reporter Claudia Hammond with Polly Vacher
Polly Vacher was fifty two when she decided to learn to fly. She's now fifty nine and tomorrow and will take off in her single engine Dakota in an attempt to get her name in the record books as the first woman to circumnavigate the globe via both the North and the South Poles.

It's an attempt that Polly first wanted to make five years ago, but her son recommended that she fly the more traditional route around the world first, in order to get some "street cred". This she successfully did in 2001 and the former teacher is, street cred intact, ready to have a go at bagging the Poles as well, all to raise money for Flying for the Disabled.
Claudia Hammond went to Oxford Airport to meet Polly and her plane just before the start of their epic journey.
