Sophie Ryder - Marathon Woman
The artist and sculptor Sophie Ryder spent months in and out of hospital with suspected leukaemia as a child. Her abiding memory of the experience is of how bored she was.

Now, 35 years on, Sophie is a world renowned artist. Her towering bronze or wire sculptures of 'lady-hares' lurchers have been exhibited around the world.
Through her childhood experience Sophie has gotten together with Great Ormond Street Hospital in London and come up with a scheme to not just brighten up children's wards but to also provide them with something imaginative, stimulating and challenging to think about and enjoy.
Sophie has just run in the London Marathon on the behalf of the Art for Great Ormond Street project.
Anna McNamee went to met Sophie in London at the site of one of Sophie's most recent public commissions.
