Ìý Women on Stage Thursday 10 April 2003 Ìý
Diana Quick
Nearly 350 years ago women took to the stage - legally - for the first time. The most famous of them was, of course, Nell Gwyn - but she wasn't typical.

So who were the women who decided to tread the boards? And is the theatre still a disreputable profession for a woman?
Playwright, April D'Angelis, who wrote Playhouse Creatures, Dr Viv Gardner from Manchester University's Drama Department and actress Diana Quick join Jenni to discuss the history of women on the stage.
'Playhouse Creatures' is on at the West Yorkshire Playhouse from 4 April to 10 May 2003 in the Quarry Theatre
