Ìý Gioconda Belli Monday 30 December 2002 Ìý
When Giaconda Belli was a young mother in 1970's Nicaragua she became involved with the Sandinista rebels who were trying to bring down the dictator Anastasio Somoza through an armed struggle.

In her autobiography, The Country Under My Skin she talks about her work as as a courier, a gun runner and a foreign ambassador. When her perfect cover as a respectable married upper class woman was blown, she was exiled for many years.
Jenni asks Giaconda Belli what made her take the leap from society girl to Sandinista.
Giaconda Belli, The Country Under My Skin: A Memoir of Love and War, Published by Bloomsbury, ISBN: 0747554722
