A new study suggests that expert advice for helping the mothers of stillborn children may have the reverse effect.
Research in the medical journal
The Lancet
shows that current guidelines which encourages parents to see and hold their dead baby may traumatise some mothers.
The study comes from a team of psychiatrists at St George's Medical School which is led by Dr Patricia Hughes.
