The tiara used to be synonymous with debs and duchesses but, since the 1950s, it's popularity has declined.
Recently however, the tiara's cause has been taken up by pop and fashion icons like Madonna, Vivienne Westwood and Sir Elton John, all who profess to have had one.
Now there's a new exhibition of tiaras at the V&A. The special exhibition features some 200 tiaras, including 20 worn by the crowned heads of Europe. Corinne Julius examines the history of the tiara in the company of Geoffey Munn, the exhibition's curator. The Tiaras exhibition is on at the Victoria & Albert Museum, 21 March to 14 July 2002 Tiaras Past and Present by Geoffrey Munn, is the official book of the V&A exhibition, Publ. Harry N. Abrams; ISBN: 0810965941, £15.04
