The last few years has seen a dramatic transformation along the South Bank of the Thames.
Since the completion of Shakespeare's Globe, the area has experienced something of a gentrification. Medieval Londoners would be shocked. In those days, Southwark was not subject to the same degree of control as the city of London - so the area across the river became rife with brothels and bawdy houses.
